GRANGE turned in one of their most convincing displays of the season as they defeated Cheshire Cricket Alliance Division Two leaders Hartford by eight wickets.
Grange are now clear in fourth place but can still finish third if they win their final game of the season at bottom-of-the-table Kerridge on Saturday.
Hartford arrived in Latchford with hopes of clinching the title but a superb bowling performance from Ian McCue paved the way for Grange to complete an excellent league double.
In an unchanged spell of 23.2 overs, McCue produced a searing display of pace bowling to claim career-best figures of 8 for 46. Matt Wilcock also bowled 20 economical overs and claimed the other two wickets to fall.
Grange paced their chase of 137 runs perfectly and it was a fine unbroken stand of 87 between Dave Seed and Dave Mason that clinched the crushing eight-wicket win.
McCue was also on song for Grange's Sunday team as his 30 runs and three decisive wickets helped to defeat Arriva by eight runs with 12 balls remaining in the final West Lancashire League fixture of the season.
Grange's champion seconds completed an undefeated season at Port Sunlight.
Grange posted 202 for 5 with Matt Downes, 57, continuing his excellent end to the campaign.
Port Sunlight never threatened the total and had reached 112 for 4 when bad light brought an end to play.
