PLAYER-of-the-match Eddie Vaughan crossed for two tries as an excellent team performance helped Rylands win at Pilkingtons. Chris Lee scored the try of the game after good work from Vaughan, Liam Bate and Aidan Johnson.

CULCHETH lost their first game of the season after Waterhead grabbed victory with a last-gasp drop goal. Des Thompson scored twice, while Tom Gleave, David Able, Nick Towhey and Danny Waldon all played well.

Oldham St Annes u15 14
LATCHFORD were rewarded for their attacking adventure and defensive steel with a handsome win against Oldham St Annes. Joe Mellor crossed twice, while Danny Newens, Tom Rigby, Jack Davis and Richard Taylor also touched down. Britton, Lomax and Cornelia put in impressive performances.

PLAYER-of-the-match Mike Ratcliffe scored four tries as Culcheth won their first game of the season after a much-improved display against Bolton Mets. Ben Stokes and Kane Price each crossed twice, while Sam Rogers and Elliot Wales touched down once. Top tackler Jack Wiltshire kicked three goals.

Oldham St Annes u14 16
INJURIES cost Latchford as they lost against Oldham St Annes despite dominating large periods of the game. Steven Smith scored a long-range try while top- tackler John Hewitt also crossed and John Stephenson kicked three goals, but Latchford struggled as they had to complete the second half with only 11 players.

JAMES Mendeika and Lewis Pickering both scored hat-tricks as Rylands scored eight tries without reply against Leigh Miners. Jamie Howard and player-of-the-match Jordan Burke were the other Rylands try scorers.
Blackbrook u14 25
Crosfields Cobras u14 12
CROSFIELDS failed to capitalise on their attacking opportunities as they lost at Blackbrook despite holding a 12-6 lead at half time. Two tries for JJ Crowley and a goal for J Laithwaite helped the visitors surge ahead, but the game degenerated into a squabble, with several players being sent from the pitch in the second half.

A DISALLOWED try meant Crosfields had to settle for a draw after recovering from a 16-0 half-time deficit. Dan Brown's effort was ruled out after Jack Graham had crossed twice, with Garry Williams also touching down. Nathan Hamilton kicked two goals and Kieron Lea also impressed.
