WISTASTON'S young golfing sensation is set to take on the rest of the world.

Eight-year-old Lewis George is on a roll after booking his tee at next year's US Kids World Golf Championship in Williamsburg, Virginia.

A budding Tigger, Monty and Faldo without doubt, Lewis has played the game for two years and already has a handicap of 26.

And now he's ready to take to the fairways against the globe's top youngsters following his success at the Grand Finals of the HSBC Wee Wonders National Golf Comp, held in St Andrews, Scotland, last weekend.

Winning regional rounds to make it on to the Balgove course, Liam was among the country's 72 best juniors in eight different age categories.

Playing two days of nine hole stroke play, Lewis scored 35 to hold joint fourth place on Saturday, three shots off leader David Brady who hit 32, two over par.

Again in three groups of three 7-8 year olds to go out on Sunday, Lewis pitted his wits against Terry Green and Billy Spooner, runner-up at this year's World Golf Championships.

With Brady carding a 39, Lewis recording Sunday's second best score of 34 to beat his playing partners by three and four shots -good enough to see him finish an awesome second overall.

As Lewis was the lowest scoring eight-year-old, he wins an automatic place in the GB and Ireland team to travel to the States in 2006.

Proud dad Steve said: "It was an excellent weekend and Lewis is flying around on cloud nine at the moment."
