ANDY Rollings saved Sandbach RUFC from defeat with a last-gasp try.
Despite being the better side, the Bradwall Road boys were staring down a barrel, trailing 17-12 at home to Vagabonds, last Saturday.
But Rollings made sure their efforts paid off as he dived over the corner for a leveller at the death.
Although he missed a difficult long-range conversation, captain Tim Oakes was relieved not to have lost.
"We were the better side but you have to happy with a draw when so close to defeat," he explained.
Sandbach made a superb start to the clash with two tries inside the first half-hour.
Oakes fed Gareth Caen to cross the whitewash before Russ Diamond dazzled with a superb try under the posts.
Rollings converted one to make it 12-0 but the Isle of Man side reduced arrears just before half-time.
Sandbach paid the priced waiting for a decision and Vagabonds capitalised on the break, converting to make it 12-7.
It gave them the drive to go forward and with Oakes sin-binned for raking, the visitors scored two further tries and a conversion to set up victory.
Sandbach had the last laugh when Rollings went over to secure a point apiece.
An unbeaten start and three points in the bag, they lie fourth in South Lancs/Cheshire Division One.
Cup action this Saturday as Sandbach entertain Altrincham Kersal.
