RESIDENTS in Howley are celebrating after developers pulled plans for 111 apartments in the area.
Clr Yvonne Fovargue, member for the area, said the announcement was good news for the residents.
She added: "I am pleased that they are listening to the community and we will continue to push for a community benefit and for community involvement in any application.
"Residents would be happy to see a regeneration of the area but it has to be something that is positive and something that is in keeping with the area.
"It needs to be in keeping with the sense of local community because there is a strong feeling of belonging here."
The 111 apartments would have been housed in two multi-storey buildings on the former Howley Quay site.
The blueprints attracted consternation among residents who protested at public meetings.
