WARRINGTON Town will aim to put a nightmare week behind them when they return to UniBond First Division action on Saturday.

Town travel to Goole for a 3pm kick-off before hosting Woodley Sports at Cantilever Park on Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm, and they will be looking to put two heavy cup defeats out of their minds.

Glenn Walker's men were consigned to consecutive 4-0 losses within 48 hours, with the second occurring at Witton Albion in the first round of the Cheshire Senior Cup on Tuesday.

After Marvin Molyneaux had seen his shot saved, Town, who have allowed striker Michael Bird to join Colwyn Bay, fell behind in the 11th minute as Ben Jones capitalised on Ian Lowe's error.

Jones steered a second into the net in the 29th minute, and Town were 3-0 down after 38 minutes as former Warrington player Mike Moseley struck.

Lowe produced a number of good saves to keep the score down but he could not prevent Jones from completing his hat-trick in the 56th minute.

Town: Ian Lowe, Danny Salt, Chris Fitzsimmons, Marvin Molyneaux, Lee Webster, Gary Randles, Phil Mitchell, Chris Bermingham, Gareth Evans, Graeme Mitchell, Dave Tickle. Subs: Adrian Reilly, Craig Heenighan, Steve Latham.

Town were also knocked out of the FA Cup in the first qualifying round on Sunday after losing 4-0 at UniBond Premier Division outfit Gateshead.

They did not fall behind until the 65th minute though and could have took the lead had former Carlisle keeper Peter Keen not kept out Molyneaux's deflected free kick in the opening stages.

The home side then forced Lowe into a number of saves, but Town went in at half time at 0-0 after Gareth Evans had missed a good chance.

James Featherstone was also denied by Keen before Gateshead took the lead when Kevin Henderson swivelled and struck past Lowe.

Town fell two behind in the 73rd minute as Chris Feasey was given time to fire home, and the game was all but over seven minutes later when Henderson scored from the penalty spot after he had been fouled by Lowe.

The scoreline then took on a very one-sided look when Robert Huntley beat Lowe from outside the area in injury time.
