OUR president, Judie Leah, welcomed everyone to our September meeting with a special hello to a new memner who has decided to join us and we are delighted to welcome her into our midst.
Thanks to Anne Podmore for the lovely table flowers later won by Dorothy Foster.
After the correspondence Judie read items of interest from the Cheshire news.
One of our members, Kathleen Mitchell, has knitted more than 200 garments for the Jacob's Well project and would be grateful for any double knitting wool which members could provide.
We are very much looking forward to our coffee evening with various stalls on September 12. All are welcome.
The October meeting will have the usual harvest stall and contributions will be gratefully received.
A list went round for names for a hotpot supper at our annual general meeting in November. This is usually very popular.
Thanks were expressed to Eileen Todd and Wendy Carey for organising a walk around Appleton followed by a meal at the Walton Arms. Everyone who came thoroughly enjoyed the evening and look forward to the next one.
Kath Haslam had tickets on sale for the October group meeting at Croft. Mr P Watson was our speaker whose topic was North country folklore. Not for the faint-hearted but very interesting and amusing. Amazing what our ancestors got up to.
He was thanked by Barbara Mackie.
The competition winners were Irene Ashley, Hazel Holden and Anne Podmore.
Barbara Mackie did a quiz for social time while the choir had a practise for the carol evening. Irene McGrath won the quiz.
Our next meeting is on October 3.
