AN enterprising trio of Penketh teenagers have started their own car wash business.

The boys have given out slips with their details and are building up a base of regular customers.

They charge £2 for small cars and £3 for large ones.

One customer, Phil Symes, of Withycombe Road, said: "They call here each weekend, but are a bit dismayed to find that people don't trust teenagers.

"But they are certainly being recommended by us, and in this day and age, I find their efforts amazing. When asking for their money they informed us that they had used the hosepipe we provided for them to water the plants in the front garden when they had finished washing the cars.

"Good luck to them and their venture, and if you live in Penketh, please support self-initiative such as this."

The lads involved are Tony Savage, aged 15, and Luke Wrigley, aged 14, both from Withycombe Road, and Richard Jackson, aged 14, from St Mary's Road.

Tony came up with the idea and he has been washing cars for money from the age of 10.

He does not get any pocket money and has been putting his share of the car wash money aside. I am just saving up at the moment so I can earn interest for when I need to buy something like a house when I am older," said the Grappenhall Hall High School pupil.

Tony said when he finishes school he is thinking of being a chef, a mechanic - or a self-employed businessman.
