A TEENAGER has been sailing on the wave of exam success, with special commendations from a ship's captain.
Charlotte Williams, of Lyons Lane, was on a cruise around Portugal with her parents when she received her top GCSE results: eight A*s and two As.
While the family celebrated, she was presented with written congratulations from Commodore Warwick, the captain of the ship.
The 16-year-old also discovered she had achieved one of the top five marks for English literature in the country when she returned home from her summer jaunt on the Queen Mary II last week.
Charlotte's father, Mark Williams, said: "Myself and my wife Beverley are very proud of Charlotte.
"It was nerve wracking having to phone up from Lisbon, but she did fantastically well."
The Appleton teenager is now looking forward to concentrating on A-level studies.
