MIDDLEWICH was top of the crops at the weekend as horticulturalists displayed their talents at the annual show.
A fine range of fruits, vegetables, crafts and cakes were on display at the Civic Hall on Saturday and the rain didn't seem to put anyone off as hundreds of people visited the event, organised by Middlewich and District Show Society.
A high number of competition entrants battled it out for the top prizes and organisers said this year's event was one of the most successful to date and were particularly impressed with the turnout.
Jenny Carver, committee member, said: "About 350 people came along which is excellent - it was very well attended.
"We had a very good children's section this year which was very bright and colourful - it was absolutely lovely to see.
"We also had the winners from the Middlewich In Bloom competition which really complemented the show."
A total of 19 prizes were handed out to competition entrants for various categories including floral art, pot plants, cookery, handicraft and the trophy for the best exhibit in the show was awarded to Andrew Carver for his collection of vegetables.
And plans are already in place to make next year's event even bigger and better.
Jenny said: "A lot of time and hard work goes into putting this show on and the committee will be organising some events throughout the year to raise money for the show."
