AN appeal has been launched to refurbish and modernise Darnhall Village Hall.
Built at the turn of the century, the hall needs updating in order to continue to house the WI, Brownies, Guides, the parish council and other social groups.
Funding is available through Government schemes and grants to cover most of this refurbishment and modernisation work.
But Clr Laurence Jinks, chairman of Darnhall Parish Council, said: "To qualify for these monies we must show that there is support across the community for the continued use and modernisation of Darnhall Village Hall.
"In order to demonstrate this support there will be an open evening on Tuesday, September 27, at the village hall, starting at 7.30pm.
"By attending you will be demonstrating your support.
"Parish councillors will be on hand to answer any questions you may have and, indeed, to tell you about our future plans."
Refreshments will be provided and there will be a free glass of wine, courtesy of the parish council.
