A WINSFORD teenager admitted kicking and hitting another girl to 'give her some of her own medicine' when she appeared at Northwich Youth Court last Wednesday.
Magistrates heard how the 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, got embroiled in an argument between one of her friends and the complainant before assaulting her as retribution for an alleged previous incident.
Catherine Whincup, prosecuting, said that the 14-year-old victim was walking home when she was confronted by the defendant and another girl.
She added that following an argument the complainant was pulled to the floor and kicked several times before she was able to scramble to her feet and run away.
She suffered bruising and swelling to the side of her face as a result.
Geoff Fletcher, defending, said that his client admitted assaulting the girl but didn't pull her to the floor.
He added: "My client became involved in an altercation, not of her making, to give the complainant some of her own treatment and show her what it was like to hurt another person."
Chairman of the bench Jeff Langham told the girl she would be subject to a six-month referral order and that she should pay £50 compensation for the injuries she inflicted.
She was also asked to pay £20 court costs.
