ARMED police swooped on an address on the Grange estate on Monday after reports that an assault had taken place.
The drama began at 8.19pm when police responded to a domestic incident.
Two armed response vehicles and a police van with dogs were sent to the scene, in Bramhall Close.
An area around the house was cordoned off as police got into position. One man eventually came out of the house at 9.20pm after being requested to do so.
He was arrested on suspicion of a section 47 assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "We were called to a domestic incident at an address in Winsford after reports of an assault. As a precaution due to reports that there was a weapon in the house, we cordoned off the house."
He added: "It took time for police to position themselves around the house - the actually incident did not last long because the defendant came out when asked to."
A 22-year-old man has been arrested and bailed. He was due to return to Northwich Police Station last night, Tuesday.
