A FORMER drug user was sentenced for attacking a man outside a Lostock club when he appeared at Chester Crown Court yesterday, Tuesday.

Jason George Ernest Lowe, 29, of Chadwick Road, Middlewich, was given a 240-hour community punishment order and ordered to pay £500 compensation for a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm, which he admitted on August 23.

Myles Wilson, prosecuting, said Lowe's victim, Andrew Coombes, was at Lostock Social Club when Lowe and another man, Andrew Fletcher, entered.

He said the victim was in a relationship with Mr Fletcher's daughter, which Mr Fletcher did not approve of, and Lowe was in a relationship with another of his daughters.

Mr Wilson said: "The defendant butted and punched Mr Coombes to the face. He fell to the ground where the defendant kicked him to the head."

Mr Coombes lost two teeth and suffered cuts and bruising as a result.

Andrew Storrie, defending, said: "This was a disgraceful episode and one which the defendant is not proud of.

Mr Storrie said Lowe had been involved with using and supplying hard drugs in the past but had put this behind him after serving a prison sentence and was now concentrating on supporting his family and fiance, who suffers from multiple sclerosis.
