Runcorn Apec Taxis Darts League
NAVVY will face Tranny Lads in the 2005 Summer League Town championship final.
In their semi final played last Thursday night Gary Johnson finished in 17 darts, helping Navvy go into an early lead.
This was followed by a win from Sean Bell who made it 2/0 with Halfway A's Karl Windisch then reducing his team's deficit to 2/1.
The first two of the doubles games both went in favour of Navvy with wins from Peter Murphy and Gary Johnson and then Sean Bell and Graham Littlemore to put their team into a healthy 4/1 lead.
The remaining doubles games went to Halfway A's Wally Done and Steve Massey but the first of the remaining three singles games put Navvy into an unassailable 5/2 winning lead.
Halfway A's Chris Taylor won to make it 5/3 with the last games being won by Navvy's Glynn Thornhill.
Tranny Lads faced Red Admiral in the other semi final and it was the latter who won the opening game through Stan Parry.
Peter Smith levelled the scores and Tranny Lads took the lead for the first time through Tom Humphries.
Tom paired up with Mike Madigan to win the first of the doubles games and this was followed by a win from teammate Peter Revill and Clive Daniels to give their team a 4/1 lead.
Red Admiral won the remaining doubles game through Jason Watkins and Dave Ocego and then the first of the remaining three singles games through Dave Houlgrave to reduce the score to 4/3.
Wins from Tranny Lads' Steve Allan and Alan Fox, the latter hitting a maximum, resulted in a 6/3 win for Tranny Lads.
The semi finals of the Executive competition also took place last Thursday night.
The all section four clash between Jolly Brewer and Prospect Has Beens proved to be a real seesaw affair.
Ian Green won the opener in favour of Jolly Brewer only to see Stuart Bousfield level the scores.
Cliff Whalley restored Jolly Brewer's lead but Stuart Bousfieldpaired up with John Hewitt to make the score two games all.
Once again Jolly Brewer took the lead with a win from Karl Ashorn and Cliff Whalley but the last three doubles games went in favour of Prospect Has Beens through Dave Sterry and Neville Probyn.
James Murray put Jolly Brewer into a 4/3 lead but the scores were then locked at four games all through Prospects' Carl Bourque.
In a tense deciding game it was Prospect Has Beens' Andy Wright who hit the winning double to put his team through to the final.
In the other semi final Albion were given a tough fight by their section two opponents Navvy Lads for it was the latter who won the first two games through Mark Thompson and Ian Robinson.
Albion's Phil Littler then won to make it 2/1 and his team went into the lead for the first time when they won the first two doubles games through Paul Melia and Jim Reed and then Nigel Peterson and John Kilkenny.
The scores were then locked at three games all with a win from Navvy Lads' Brian Robinson and Brian Tildsley, but the remaining three singles games all went in favour of Albion through Nigel Peterson, who also hit the maximum, Eamonn Hartigan and Colin Rigby.
This Thursday the first of the league's two finals nights for the 2005 summer league will take place at the War Memorial Club commencing at 8pm.
Next Thursday, September 22, sees the conclusion.
The 2005/2006 winter league is due to commence on Thursday, October 6.
