WINSFORD United manager Dave Twite has spoken about the crazy night at Barton Stadium that saw his side's Cheshire Senior Cup match with Cammell Laird abandoned at half time.
And, unlike the FA Cup tie against Northallerton two weeks ago, Winsford had no part in the chaos that led to the abandonment.
The Blues had taken a 2-0 lead with goals from Rob Hanley and Rick Arnold, but Laird managed to claw one back just before the break.
And it was Winsford's next attack that sparked the ugly scenes.
Craig Marshall chased a long ball, but the Laird keeper got there first and handled the ball outside the area.
He was shown the red card by the referee and then took his gloves off and threw them at the official.
Another Laird player was sent off during protests before the referee blew for half time.
Things seemed to have calmed down, but one of the Laird management team then got involved and leapt over the barrier, into the crowd, to argue with fans.
Sensing trouble, the referee had no option but to abandon the game.
Twite is shocked by the actions of the Laird official.
He said: "I think something was boiling over from last season and I believe a few emails were passed between Winsford and Laird fans about the Silsden game last year.
"But I couldn't believe it when their official went over the barrier and into the crowd and their manager even came into our dressing room."
He added: "It's such a shame because, aside from the two sendings off, the lads on both teams were ready to carry on.
"It hadn't been a dirty game and both sides would have been happy to carry on.
"Now we'll have to wait to see what happens with the tie.
"Cheshire FA say it could take two or three weeks for a decision, but I believe we should be handed the tie as the game was abandoned at half time when we were winning and they had had two men sent off.
"That's what happened to us against Northallerton and I think that should apply here too."
