NEIGHBOURS of a pub looking to open until 2am have kept a diary detailing disturbances they cope with each weekend.

Revellers leaving the Bowling Green pub regularly cause sleepless nights for John Holloway and Bev Stevens, who have endured disturbances until 5am.

The fed-up pair live in Monks Lane, just a stone's throw from The Gullet pub.

So when landlady Amanda Pratten told them she was applying to serve alcohol until 1.30am, the couple decided to keep a log outlining their experiences - see below.

The couple say: "It would affect our sleep even more than currently, and a result of this, would adversely affect our health.

"We do believe our human rights would be adversely affected, should this application be granted."

County Cllr Peter Nurse, believes a midnight closing time would be sufficient.

Cllr Nurse, of Dysart Buildings, said: "I fear that extending hours to 2am will cause noise and nuisance for residents."

Residents Elaine and Alan Hughes say: "There are lots of residents in their locality, many of which are pensioners, who are already subject to abusive language, spitting, littering and anti-social behaviour.

"An extra three hours drinking time will prove horrendous for the residents and will undoubtedly end in violence with someone being hurt.

Objectors re also worried about the impact on Bowling Green Court, a residential complex for senior citizens.

Publican Amanda Pratten says she will ensure that customers leave her premises "quietly and in an appropriate manner."

She has posted notices around the bar, asking drinkers to show respect to neighbours when leaving.

Next Monday licensing bosses will rule upon the bid at a meeting in Crewe.
