THE police are using a pun in their latest campaign for road safety.
The 'Lost Soles' initiative features a shoe lying in the middle of a carriageway to represent each of the 67 people killed in Cheshire last year.
The campaign is specifically aimed at the number of collisions where speed is a factor under the slogan 'Speed limits are not targets'.
It is being jointly run by the six police forces in the north west.
Inspector Brian Rogers, from Cheshire's road policing unit, said: "Excessive or inappropriate speed is recognised as a major contributory factor in many road collisions, and this often results in someone sustaining serious or fatal injuries.
"Enforcement of speed limits forms a key part of the Cheshire Police road safety strategy."
