GLORIOUS summer weather made the perfect setting for this year's annual Woolston and District Show as young and old enjoyed a bumper selection of activities and demonstrations.

Woolston Park ranger Elaine Moss said: "The day went really well, it was another wonderful show and the weather helped make it a great success as thousands turned out to enjoy the afternoon.

"The horticultural society were pleased with the number of entries they received and everyone enjoyed what is a fantastic community event."

The show was opened by chairman of Woolston Parish Council, Ann Brennan, and featured a selection of charity stalls offering information and selling bric a brac.

Among the attractions was a falconry display, which featured a variety of birds of prey, Latchford Silver Band, The Earl of Stamford Morris Dancers and Bernie Bennett's tightrope act, which was a massive hit among the young visitors.

And there was plenty of activities for visitors to the show to try their hand at, including woodland crafts, pottery and circus skills.

Youngsters enjoyed a traditional Punch and Judy Show and tried out bicycles supplied by the Cycle Museum.

The show is organised in partnership with Woolston and District Horticultural Society and Friends of Woolston Park with financial support from Woolston Parish Council.
