A FREE leaflet offering help and advice about a hidden health problem affecting one in five women and almost one in five men will be launched in Warrington as part of Continence Awareness Week.
The effects of 'overactive bladder syndrome' include getting sudden and uncontrollable urges to empty the bladder, needing to pass urine frequently and waking often at night to visit the toilet.
The leaflet - The Overactive Bladder - gives self-help information and details of the treatments available to deal with it, ranging from simple lifestyle measures to a method of 'retraining' the bladder.
It will be available from Warrington Primary Care Trust's continence team, which will be holding an information stall at Birchwood Shopping Centre every day from 9am until 4.30pm from Monday to Friday next week.
Copies are also available from the foundation's confidential helpline on 0845 345 0165.
