WHAT do women in Warrington want? The town's Agenda 21 women's forum wants to find out.

Clr. Joan Harpin, leader of the group, told the GUARDIAN that one of the main areas of concern to emerge from meetings was that many women had difficulty finding out what was available for them in the town.

"We need an audit of what is going on for women. There seems to be no co-ordination," said Joan.

She added that suggestions for information sources had included a directory and a drop in centre and it was also thought that a local radio station was important.

Joan said that any women in the town can put their views forward at the next Agenda 21 meeting and they can also contact her through the town hall.

Other areas of concern identified at the Agenda 21 women's forum include the need for:

More research into domestic violence.

Assertion to be part of women's education.

Parents and teachers to work together to promote moral values based on rights, responsiblities and reward.

The next Agenda 21 women's forum meeting is on September 12, 7pm at the Town Hall.
