CONSISTENCY is the key for Middlewich Athletic as they look to ease themselves away from the relegation trap-door which two consecutive home defeats had plunged them towards.

Manager Dave Twite realises that although their sensational comeback to win 3-2 at Fleetwood on Saturday has steadied the ship, the Robins need to break the bad habit of failing to build on a good result.

He retains an air of caution about the result, no doubt wary of the collapse which followed his side's last away win.

Twite said: "This is only one result. We've got to be more consistent. It's no good winning this one and losing the next two games, we have to put some results together."

Everyone at the club can draw encouragement from the way the Robins fought back after all the odds seemed to be stacked against them.

Once again, Twite had to lift from the reserves to string a side together, even naming himself in the line-up.

After an absence of more than a year ,the boss was left with little option but to don a red shirt and save himself a seat on the bench, such was the extent of his injury list.

However, he kept his praise for the less experienced ones who masterminded the win.

He said: "We went into the game with a relatively inexperienced side, but I know what the young lads can achieve and like I said two weeks ago, I've got no hesitation in fielding younger players.

"Griggs and Tier both did well but the overall team performed and hopefully that will give them some confidence."
