I, and possibly many others, have pasted them into my scrap book along with interesting items over the years from your Market Place feature.
The recent piece on disused salt mines was most informative and reveals the enormous problems ahead.
On the BBC North West programme, the old farm house at the Lostock chemical works was shown.
The information given out was in my opinion incorrect.
On the OS maps, the farm is called Over Street, not Platts Farm (Platt I believe was a one time tenant).
It also stated that Brunner Mond built the chemical works after finding brine to manufacture chemicals.
But the works were built by Messrs Bowman, Thompson and Co in 1891, and sold in 1900.
