DABBERS new boy James Churchman made a spectacular debut for the club in their 4-2 defeat of Haslingden on Saturday.

The 19-year-old dynamo, recently signed from Middlewich, not only set up the first two goals but went on to score the fourth.

"We were very pleased with James' performance," said Nantwich Town secretary Alan Thompson. "It was the first time he has played at this level, and before the game he was very nervous, but it didn't show once he was on the pitch."

Nantwich went ahead on 15 minutes after new captain Ray Notice completed an excellent 1-2 with Churchman.

And five minutes later the ubiquitous Churchman set up the second goal, when his corner kick found Paul Garvey who put the ball in the back of the net.

But on 30 minutes Haslingden pulled one back with a penalty, leaving Nantwich 2-1 up at the beginning of the second half.

Matt Borthwick was brought down in the Haslingden penalty area, and Mark Agius converted it to give them more breathing space.

Then Churchman got the goal he had been chasing all game with a 25 yard curver into the top right hand corner of the net.

A silly mistake on 85 minutes put the score at 4-2, but the Dabbers finished the game with a confident win.
