CREWE ALEXANDRA - 1 NORWICH CITY - 0

CREWE Alex are an astonishing 11 points off a play-off position after a six game run of tremendous form.

Saturday's win against Norwich was the fourth win in a row for Dario's Young Lions, a run which followed their historic win against Manchester City and a hard fought draw against Bury.

On Saturday, two late changes to the team when Shaun Smith and Gareth Whalley had to withdraw through injury brought Unsworth and Street into the Alex line-up.

The first half did not produce too many goal chances, but had a Dele Adebola shot gone in rather than crash off the foot of the post the pattern could so easily have altered.

Little was seen of the Norwich attack and in consequence Kearton had a quiet time in the Crewe goal.

Adjustments were made by Norwich after the interval as they attempted to find more attacking options. Welsh International Roberts tested Kearton with a header but the keeper dealt with it in his customary manner.

Finally, Crewe went ahead when Adebola put in a close range shot which was blocked, it came back to him and his second effort was deflected into the net by their Norwegian defender Fugelstad.

During the last 25 minutes, the visitors strived to get an equaliser but the Crewe defence proved equal to their efforts. At the other end the Norwich defence always had to be alert as Crewe tried to increase their goals tally.

This latest win saw Crewe achieve their first double of the season and maintained their mid table position.

January has been a good one for Crewe and an increasing number of fans are attending the games to revel in the glory.
