Congleton 1st XV - 31 Didsbury 1st XV - 12
CONGLETON applied the pressure from the kick off when they hosted league rivals Didsbury at Hankinson's Field last Saturday.
A penalty was awarded to them in the 10th minute and John Woodman put them on the scoreboard leading by 3-0.
The attack continued and, although Didsbury fought back, the home side came close in the 21st minute and then scored seven minutes later to bring the score to 8-0.
Didsbury were back on the attack and after 32 minutes they masterminded a try, which although unconverted, saw them back in the game.
Five minutes later Congleton took another penalty with again Woodman brought the score to 11-5 before increasing their lead three points further by half time.
In the 65th minute Richard Burkard dived over for an unconverted try bringing the score to 19-5 followed by another unconverted try from Matt Johnson.
In the 75th minute a Congleton move went wrong when the ball bounced off a player's arm and was picked up by Didsbury who were able to score.
With two minutes to go prop Darren Cashmore noisily crashed through the Didsbury defence to earn a further five points.
