DAREDEVIL skydivers Angela Brown and her friends jumped into the great blue yonder on Sunday to help a hospice.

The parachuting adventure was the first attempted by the trio from Biddulph, who jumped from more than 7,000 feet from an aircraft.

The friends hope to have raised about £800 for the Douglas MacMillan Hospice with the tandem skydive, with each of the group strapped to an instructor as they floated to earth.

Angela, aged 20, from Dorset Drive, Biddulph, works at Boots the Chemist in Congleton.

Joining her for their daring leap into the unknown were Diane Hancock, aged 22, from Biddulph, who owns Diane's Hairdressing in Station Road, and Simon Pointon, from Gillow Heath.

"We each paid £165 to do the jump so all the money we raised in sponsorship would go to the hospice,'' said Miss Brown.

"The parachute jump was for a good cause, and the hospice has a special meaning for us as we know people who have been diagnosed with cancer.

''Because we were strapped to instructors we only had 20 minutes briefing before the jump.''

The trio will be able to relive their high dive, after paying for it to be captured on video by another parachutist.

The charity skydive was staged on Sunday morning from an airfield outside Nottingham.
