GRANGE Valley became the latest team through to the Premier Cup quarter-finals in the Warrington Sunday Soccer League.

A single goal from Neil James was enough for Grange to win 1-0 over Whiston Carrs.

A goal each from Steve Rice, Peter Higginbottom and Steve Osborne gave Butchers Arms a 3-2 win against Cheshire Hawthorne in the Challenge Cup fourth round.

In the Premier Division, Starting Gate could only draw 3-3 at Caledonia and missed the chance to close the gap at the top.

The goals for Caledonia came from Andy Hall, Steve McMurtry and Ste Nugent with Iain Dyson, Mike Scully and Shane Hudson replying for Starting Gate.

Halton Sports jumped into third place after beating Kembledean 4-1 with goals from Kevin Patterson, Russ Whitehead, Dave McKinlay and John Toner.

Division One leaders Boston ROB reinforced their position at the top with goals from Tom Brownbill, Alan Tyghe and Steve Watkin to win 3-0 at Dundalk.

Top scorers on the day were Greenwood Star Alarms who won 12-2 at Victoria with Tony Burgess netting five, a hat-trick from Danny Gallop and two each for Chris Driscoll and Dave Turner.

The big shock in Division Two came at Long Lane where Martin Dawes inflicted a first league defeat on leaders Trust Holt, winning 4-2 with Dave Grindley getting a couple Mike Hasty and Chris Parr getting the others.

Second place Rylands narrowed the gap with a 4-1 win over Pear Tree 4-1 courtesy of a hat-trick from Wayne Johnson and one from Andy Duxbury.

Division Three leaders North Cheshire Celtic needed a late goal to draw 3-3 at Astley and Tyldesley. Tony Ackford, Mark Baxendale and sub Nigel Baxter scored for Astley with Phil Murray, 2 and Craig Canning on target for North Cheshire.

In Division Four, Saracens Utd went back on top with goals from Lee Smith and Nick Lloyd in their 2-0 win over Trees FC.

Third place Stocks had an excellent 5-2 win at fourth place Young Gate and could go top if they win their games in hand.

In Division Five, doubles from John Edwards and Stuart Galloway, plus others from Jason Blekinsopp, Darren Reddish, Ray Crozier and Rick Higham, gave leaders Club Lifestyle an 8-4 win over Five Star Transport.
