HOLLINGWORTH Lake Rowing Club staged the first North of England Indoor Rowing Championships at the weekend and Warrington did well.
The first victory for Warrington was in the men's lightweight individual 2,000m category, with a convincing win by Andy Malins. Charlotte Clough, in the women's category, was narrowly beaten into second place.
Richard Egington put in his usual class performance, clearly winning the junior division and recording the fastest time of the whole day.
Warrington's success continued in the men's relay event. The crew, comprising of Egington, Mike Dostal and Tim Donavan, put in an immense effort to win their event in 5mins 52secs.
The club is hoping to repeat some of the success on the water tomorrow, Saturday, when they hold their annual Head of the Mersey Race.
Spectators are welcome at the clubhouse by Kingsway Bridge, Latchford. The racing begins at 10am.
