WORK on an £80,000 traffic calming scheme in Warrington begins on Monday, February 9 for six weeks.
The project includes mini-road humps, roundabouts and speed cushions - a modified road hump to accommodate buses and emergency vehicles - for Capesthorne Road and Hilden Road, which will be closed to traffic during their construction.
An alternative route will be signposted along Blackbrook Avenue, Birchwood Way and Poplars Avenue.
The scheme, funded by Cheshire County Council, is the result of a public consultation exhibition held in Spring 1997.
Cty. Clr. Colin Froggatt said: "The scheme should mean less traffic moving at slower speeds which will be appreciated by residents. It also includes raised crossing points at Brook Acre and St. Bridget's primary schools to help pedestrians." Work is to be completed in phases to minimise disruption.
