STAFF at the Green Oaks shopping centre had to be evacuated after a fire broke out in an electrical room at one of the shops on Friday morning.
Widnes fire brigade had to clear the centre of staff and shoppers when a fire ignited in the Index catalogue shop at 10am. The incident was dealt with in 15 minutes. No injuries occurred but slight damage was caused to the heating and ventilation system.
