FOR Winsford camera enthusiast Glynis Noden, February is the month when it has all clicked.

Last week she won an open print competition at the Mid-Cheshire Camera Club, of which she has been a member for five years, and tonight (Wednesday) she will be sharing her views of Canada in a slide presentation at the Vale Royal Community Arts Centre in Dene Drive, Winsford.

Judging by her recent success it's safe to say that one can expect a little more variety and intrigue in Glynis' images than the usual blur of summer holiday snapshots.

She has always enjoyed combining travelling eyes with her love of the lens, a marriage which allows a series of interesting themes to develop.

She said: "I've travelled to the United States several times just for a change and a holiday.

"I went to Canada for the first time for a month in May of last year with some friends. Of course I always take my camera with me."

Glynis, who now lives in Little Budworth, will show pictures which project an educational light onto her still subjects.

She said: "The slide show covers Toronto, Quebec and Montreal with shots of the Sion Tower and other cityscapes.

"But the most interesting thing I want to show is the cultural change you experience in moving between Quebec and Toronto.

"Quebec is the French side and when you enter it it is like walking out of Canada into another country. My pictures aim to show the difference between the two."

When she isn't working as a physiotherapy assistant at the Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, Glynis likes to explore the full range of styles her hobby offers, from the simple to the abstract.

Along with the routine shots of weddings, close-ups of motorbikes and other forms of transport can be seen reeling off the film. In fact her winning entry in the recent competition was a striking snap of the rear end of a 1950s Cadillac.

The Mid-Cheshire camera club meets every Wednesday at 7.30pm at the Community Centre in Dene Drive, Winsford. Admission is free and visitors and new members are most welcome.

The club also has a print exhibition running through February featuring more than 40 photographs from the club and 11 from Photo Club Deuil-la-Barre, Winsford's twin town.
