A 48-HOUR action plan to combat racism in football has been backed by Middlewich Euro MP Michael Tappin.

Football associations from across Europe will begin their first joint action with schools and colleges to tackle racism in the game.

Yesterday, Tuesday, an exhibition to kick racism out of the sport was launched involving 200,000 schools and colleges.

It was attended by European Parliament president Jose Maria Gil Robles, European Commissioner Padraig Flynn, Socialist group leader Pauline Green MEP and UK Home Office minister Michael O'Brien MP.

A seminar will follow today, Wednesday, with football associations and teachers' organisations.
