During discussions in the evening relating to differences in culture and town pride, I explained the present situation regarding the piece of land adjacent to the River Weaver near the town centre.

They were surprised that Northwich proposed that this should have houses built on it, and that in France it would be used to enhance the town's pride in itself.

Because of the industrial heritage the area along much of the River Weaver in the town area is not accessible and not very pretty.

This area of land, because of its position, would have a considerable amenity value to the town and the local area, if it was used to provide an open space between Verdin Park and the river.

It is a shame that Northwich should have such a poor imagination and be so poor in monetary terms that it cannot afford better use of the area than to build over it.
