Queens Park Rangers 3 Crewe Alexandra 2

STEVE Anthrobus was called into the side to fill the gap left through the transfer of Adebola to Birmingham City. Gareth Whalley also came back after missing the Norwich game but Shaunn Smith was again missing.

All the early pressure came from the home side who had their recent signings Davie and Kennedy making their home debuts.

A goal from QPR seemed certain when Gallen was right through with only Kearton to beat but the keeper spread himself to prevent that early goal.

Crewe were finding it hard to mount serious attacks of their own, they had to reorganise when Unsworth had to go off after two knocks to be replaced by Street. Johnson took over the full back role with Street taking his place in midfield.

Only two minutes before the interval the first goal came, Kennedy, then on the right hit a tremendous 25 yard shot which beat Kearton.

Immediately on the resumption Crewe started attacking the home side, the midfield play providing openings. They got their reward on 62 minutes, just three minutes after Kennedy had doubled the home lead.

A determined run by Street was taken on by Anthrobus who fired low into the net. Crewe levelled the score when Seth Johnson beat Harper with a well placed shot following a good run down the left.

Would the Alex hold on for another point, the answer proved to be in the negative for central defender Ready was left unmarked following a corner and his firm header beat Kearton.

The run of success by the Alex had come to an end but there is still plenty of hope from this young and talented side.
