A PUBLIC inquiry started on Tuesday into a plan to demolish the Gorsty Hall hotel on the outskirts of Crewe and build 11 homes in its place.
Permission was granted to the scheme by the borough council last month, but because it is on green belt land, the Secretary of State has called in the application to decide it for himself.
The inquiry, in front of a government appointed inspector, will decide on the suitability of the site for housing and other matters such as availability of public transport and impact on the surrounding area.
