THE beginning of the week saw most of Lymm Angling Club's waters still affected by ice, albeit it was melting fast.

This led to gin clear waters and mediocre fishing but several sites still gave up a few perch, with lobworm scoring best.

Match organiser Ray Boden reports plenty of fish in the Callands Pool and Bewsey Bridge swims of the Sankey Canal. Tench are still featuring strongly in the Sankey matches.

The Dobson family spent a few hours on Mossbank Pool last Saturday and each managed to land some rudd with the best being over 1lb. Matthew pointed out that sport was fast but, unfortunately, it was supplied by sticklebacks.

Members have been asking how to find Norbury Pool. This tiny five peg water is sited on the same farm as Moss and Mossbank Pools.

It can be found by keeping to right hand hedge, where you would normally follow the edge of the field to the left to find Moss and Mossbank, after parking in Seven Sisters Lane.

Follow the right hand hedge into the second field until you come to a sign marked Norbury. This sign points to a clump of trees on the left with the pool, containing crucians, roach and perch, in the middle of these trees.

Abbey Lake continues to produce quality roach to 1.5lb. Long pole and tip tactics have produced good bags of fish. Clear water means that fine tackle is required, pinkies, squatts and bread punch have scored equally well.

Small fish are still the order of the day on Village, Farm and Grimditch Mill Pools, although bonus fish are always on the cards.

Work parties have commenced in earnest. Lymmvale and Whitley Pool benefitted from last weekend's efforts.

The next session is set for February 22 at Statham Pool. All work parties commence at 9am and finish at 3pm.

Last Sunday saw the last leg of the Northwich Winter League, fished on the River Weaver. Members performed well, scoring a second and third.

Vale Royal A team came first overall with 419 points, Lymm Shaw's came second with 397 points with Lymm Angling Club coming third with 378 points.
