THE Blue Sharks progressed to the quarter-finals of the North West Counties Cup after being 10-0 down at half-time. They hit back with two fine tries by S. Moorcroft, goaled by D. Hankey.

WOOLSTON'S lack of concentration in defence resulted in them losing.

S. McElroy, R. Cosgrove and T. Rose contributed to some fine attacking play. Top tacklers were B. Sharp and B. Ogden with best support being A. Stringer. Man of the match was shared between P. Reynolds and S. McElroy.

SOME fine rugby was played which resulted in Woolston scoring four tries through A. Beckett, 2, C. Cornelia and T. Maddock. Four goals were kicked by S. Bagley.

WOOLSTON sneaked a victory in the dying minutes. A superb try by J. Javis started Woolston off with victory being sealed with a try by D. Bennett.

Two further tries were scored by C. Bringau and goals by S. Yates and M. Savage saw Woolston home. Man of the match was L. Sherratt.

WITH only two points separating the teams in the league before the game a close contest was on the cards. This proved to be the case with Grappenhall just shading it with tries coming from Steve Kinder, 2, Dave Skelton, Anthony Jenks and Mike Barrett. Craig Delaney added a goal.

WOOLSTON lost out when they conceded six points a few minutes before the final whistle. Their try scorers were Ben Hart, Mat Daley and Darren Murray with Nicky Owen kicking the conversions and a penalty.

Man of the match was Hart, closely followed by Daley and Owen. Top tackler was Murray. Special award went to Mat Chambers.

CROSFIELDS faced a stern test against the league leaders and were 18-0 down at the break. A fine defensive spell after the interval restricted Royton until late in the game.

David Buckley took the player of the match award while Clive Cartwright was top tackler for the third match in a row.

CROSFIELDS produced a hard working and determined performance despite being hit by illness and injury.

Chris Gordon powered in for the opening try, goaled by Ian Stephenson. Two tries from Stephenson allowed Crosfields to turn round level at half-time but St. Maries ran away with the game in the later stages.

Lunts Heath Lions u14 4

WOOLSTON dominated with stand off Ben Heaton being the first to exploit gaps in the Lunts Heath defence. Further tries by S. Gandy, 2, M. McKay, 2 and two goals by Heaton proved too much. McKay was man of the match.

WOOLSTON produced some superb attacking moments. There was some excellent running from Williams, Griffiths, Jones, Callon and Thomas with Lee Hunter and Scott Dennett working hard when in possession.

However, Woolston can learn from the controlled aggression of Judes.

CROSFIELDS were comfortably winning following a hat-trick from Kilshaw and two conversions from Pickett. The Crosfields defence was rock solid until the last 10 minutes when Orrell hit back.

Outstanding were Alcock, Bennion, Kilshaw and Noone with Grant also solid.
