Walney Central 16
Woolston Rovers 19
ROVERS got back to winning ways at Barrow to keep their five point-lead at the top of the National Conference Premier Division.
Walney built up an 8-0 advantage but Woolston responded to take an 11-8 lead into the second half.
Woolston hit back when centre Tim Iddon intercepted a pass and found stand off Graham Smith who hacked the ball 50 yards and won the race to touch down. Full back Steve Martin goaled.
Hooker Liam Horrigan and second row Eddie Harris combined to put winger Mark Wallington away and his electric pace did the rest.
A drop goal from scrum half Neil Kelly completed the first half scoring.
The home side regained the lead when pressure on the Rovers line was rewarded by centre Dave Barker forcing his way over. Robinson converted and then added a penalty.
Rovers refused to lie down and from a quick Wallington play-the-ball centre Karl Taylor spotted a gap and his power allowed him to sneak in from close range. A magnificent touchline conversion from Martin gave Rovers the lead at 17-16.
Rovers completed the scoring eight minutes from time with a Martin penalty.
Outstanding for Rovers were loose forward Nigel Quarmby, prop forward Paul Foster and second row pair Adam Jude and Eddie Harris.
