Tetley Walker 1

Maghull 2

TETLEY Walker FC fell foul of their bogey side Maghull once again in a disappointing display on Saturday.

Maghull made it a hat-trick of wins on their travels to Long Lane while Tetley slipped deeper into relegation trouble with their third consecutive league defeat.

The visitors took the lead after 10 minutes when Walker goalkeeper Martin Wilkinson was unable to hold on to a powerfully struck cross and Paul Jackson got their first to stab it home.

Walker managed to draw level a minute before the interval when Dave Fisher capitalised on the Maghull keeper's failure to hold on to a powerful Dave Johnson header and tucked the ball in the net.

But before the referee could blow for half-time, Maghull were back in front as substitute Chris Brunskull rounded Wilkinson to fire into an empty net while the home side's claims for offside fell on deaf ears.

Despite both sides creating several goal-scoring chances, the score did not change in the second half as both goalkeepers making amends for their first half errors with fine saves.

Maghull eased their own relegation worries by hanging on for their first win since November - when they last beat Tetley Walker. Walker's man of the match was John Sanson.

Team: Wilkinson, Sanson, Webster, Roberts, Tandy, Bush, Woodward, Preidt, Johnson, Fisher, Dack. Subs: Hunt, Cooper, Coulson.

Tomorrow, Saturday, Walker are at home to struggling Stantondale, kick off 2.30pm.

Next Thursday is the Tetley Walker FC Sportsman's Dinner, with a few tickets still available for £20. The guest speakers are TV ventriloquist Neville King and comic Paddy Greene.
