Sefton 12

Moore 15

MOORE'S bulldog spirit saw them overcome a much larger and more powerful Sefton side that could not compete for commitment.

When Moore went behind from the kick-off to a converted try the writing appeared to be on the wall as the power of the Sefton backs and forwards looked awesome in all phases of play.

Moore dug deep and held out against the onslaught. Just before half-time scrum half Steve Woollacott made a break from inside his own 22 and released man of the match Ian Allen, who raced through to level the scores.

Sefton replied on the stroke half-time to go into the break 12-7 ahead.

In the second half, Moore showed great tenacity as they chased and tackled everything. This constant hounding forced Sefton into errors and allowed Moore further and further into their territory.

Moore capitalised with a try from Mark Dix-Baker and a penalty from Ian Allen. They then held on to their slender lead for the last 10 minutes for a memorable victory.

Moore get back to league action next week with an away fixture against Mossley Hill.
