STAFF at a Winsford-based counselling service are urging people in the town to rally round and support their latest fund-raising ventures.

Eclipse Counselling Network, which offers bereavement support to people throughout Vale Royal, is facing a tough battle to make its funds stretch to the end of the financial year.

But staff at the School Road-based service are hoping that two forthcoming events will help to boost the coffers.

On Saturday, February 28, Eclipse is hosting a hot-pot supper and folk night at Portal Golf Club in Tarporley.

The event, featuring folk band The Fourgone Conclusion, starts at 8pm and tickets, costing £8, are available from Eclipse on 554584.

Eclipse staff are hopeful that the event will be a sell-out success, and they are also hoping to raise plenty of cash from selling 'Golden Angel' badges around the borough.

Eclipse's Carmel Kennedy said: "We are funded by the Health Authority but due to the high demand for our services, those funds are used up quite quickly.

"The situation is particularly bleak now that we are approaching the end of the financial year, so it falls on us to do our own fund-raising.

"We're hoping that as many people as possible will buy one of our badges and come along to the folk night."
