A MID-CHESHIRE animal rights campaigner is calling for Winsford and Middlewich people to join her fight against hare coursing.

Nicky Green, of Yew Tree Farm, Whatcroft, has slammed people who attend an annual hare coursing event in Merseyside called the Waterloo Cup.

She is urging Winsford and Middlewich families to make it the last hare coursing event by writing to Tony Blair and local MPs.

Nicky explained: "For three days this month depraved people bring their kids, beer and picnics and place bets, rubbing shoulders with hundreds of like-minded morons from all walks of life, all of whom enjoy killing animals or making money from doing so.

"We animal-loving British condemn bullfighting, bear-baiting and eating dogs, yet throughout the year thousands of hares are ripped apart for fun by hare coursing - the highlight being at the Waterloo Cup, Altcar."

Nicky would like as many local people as possible to join her in protesting at the event. Those interested can meet at The Causeway (near Tesco), Altcar, near Southport on February 24, at 10.30am.
