Ten points clear at the top of the Unibond Premier and seemingly cruising towards promotion into the Conference, Barrow will prove a major hurdle.

Coach Paul Bennett faced Barrow as coach of WInsford earlier in the season and his knowledge is seen as an essential weapon in the tactical battle to win the tie.

Paul said: "It is going to be a tough game, it always is when a team is doing well, regardless of which league they're in."

Winsford are one of only five teams to beat Barrow this season. Paul revealed: "We went their knowing the style of football we played wouldn't suit them. They try to play football, but we got behind them down the channels and it paid dividends."

Manager Phil Wilson and Director of football, John Williams have compiled a sizable dossier on their opposition.

Both have been to watch Barrow a number of times and are aware of their record.

Paul added: "We'll be guarding against complacency. But just one look at their record and the lads will know they've got a game on their hands."

Vics are likely to be injury free for the trip to Barrow, provided all the players came through last night's Spalding Cup game at Morecambe.

Phil Wilson has also promoted 19 year old midfielder Ricky Lampkin into Vics' senior squad.

Phil said: "I've known Ricky since he was 10 and part of the Tranmere youth set-up. He's a talented player and one for the future.

"He may get a few starts this season, but I'm thinking about him as a more long term player."

Lampkin joined Vics on a trial in December and made his first team debut last week against Macclesfield.

Wilson has also denied there have been any firm approaches made for players despite the pressence of a number of league scouts at recent home games, including Sunderland and Tranmere at Saturday's game with Slough.

Phil said: "There have been scouts watching our players all season.

"There has been no direct interest recently, but I don't want to see anybody go anyway."
