MALCOLM Badrock and his magnificent model of Star Trek Voyager will be beaming up to the Oakley Centre on Sunday along with hundreds of other model makers and sci-fi fans.

The twelfth annual South Cheshire Militaire is being staged from 10am until 5pm and this year's event promises to be even bigger and better than ever.

It has shot to the top of the model show world and now hosts an open national competition and attracts fans from all over the country.

On offer are military modelling, sci-fi fantasy, model engineering, war gaming, train layout, full size military vehicles, buy and sell stands, model cars, boats, aircraft and trucks.

Mock battles will feature troops from the American Civil War, Napoleonic, Viking and 13th century Scottish battles.

Malcolm, is mad about Star Trek models and model railways. Making them takes up most of the spare time he gets after his week's work at train company, Adtranz. His home in Audley Street, Crewe is full of them. His Voyager is 18" long and will be taking pride of place among his exhibits at the Militaire.

Organisers are delighted with the initial response to this year's show and are anticipating another smash hit.

"We are also looking forward to planning an extra special show for the millennium," said spokesman Phil Podmore.
