TYREWISE have created history in the Warrington Sunday Soccer League by becoming the first fifth division to ever reach the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup.

The league newcomers defied their lowly status for an extra-time victory against Marquis at the quarter-final stage.

Tyrewise's Marc Friend struck first before goals from Mike Young and Carl Greenwood gave Marquis a 2-1 lead. Keith Rooney equalised and a 30 yarder from sub Kevin Hill saw the minnows through.

In Sunday's other quarter-final, Martin Dawes took the lead through Danny McCarthy against Halton Sports but Leon Whitehead equalised before half-time.

In the second half, Halton took the lead with a goal from Mike Maloney before a last minute goal from Tony Ennis made the game secure for Halton.

Tyrewise will be looking to continue their giant-killing run when they clash with Halton Sports in the semi's.

In the replayed quarter-final of the Presidents Cup, The Cheese just got the better of Rylands in a seven goal thriller.

In the Premier Division, a Steve McMurtry strike gave Caledonia a 1-0 win over previously unbeaten Whiston Carrs.

Another draw came at Kembledean where goals from Jimmy Lee and Ian Conroy cancelled out Sidac goals from Jay Nieman and Ian Frazer.

In Division One, two goals from Chris Batty gave leaders Boston ROB a 2-2 draw with Wanderers, who scored through Neil Matthews and Ian Steele.

Blundell Arms went second a Tony Mullarkey brace, plus others from Paul Sullivan, Danni Rossi and Jez Ashall, gave them a 5-1 win over Monk Sports.

Goals from Keith Polhill, Paul Moore, Paul Martin and Steve Quirk helped Dundalk to a 4-0 win at Bay Horse.

In Division Two, Ballater jumped into third after beating Pear Tree 4-3 with their goals coming from Phil Cade, two, Mike Shaw and Ian Wilkinson.

In Division Three, Seven Woods were beaten 3-1 by leaders North Cheshire Celtic. Second place Culcheth FC won 3-2 at Poacher with Stuart Boddy getting a couple and Neil Shacklady the other.

Division Four leaders Richmonds Raiders beat Dog & Partridge 4-3 to stay clear of Saracens Utd, who kept their good run going as they beat General Elliot 2-0 with goals from Nick Lloyd and Phil Salt.
