LOWLY Cheshire Grange provided the shock result in the Warrington Soccer League programme.

They came away from third placed Daten with a surprise 1-0 win. Sidac Social drop into the bottom two following a 6-0 hammering at leaders Whiston Cross.

The top three all gained maximum points in Division One. Goal poacher Ian Pickett's double gave leaders Winwick a 2-1 win over Monk Sports.

Pickett's winning strike came from a solo run in which he outwitted three defenders before unleashing an unstoppable shot.

Riverplate scored five without reply at Widnes Sports and Social. A goal apiece here from David Houghton, Trevor Caddick, Ian Whitfield, Brendan Hennessey and Robert Broome.

An inspired performance from Grappenhall's Chris Gould brought a brace of goals, including a spectacular volley. Guy Hodson got the other in a 3-0 win at Norlands.

Division Two leaders Fearnhead continued their winning ways when they overcame Lockers 4-3. Paul Apleton, Andy Sharkey, James Forshaw and Shaun Caddick found the target.

An Andy McGilvray strike gave second place East Leigh maximum points at Spartak.

A top two clash in Division Three produced a 6-3 win for leaders Irlam Catholic Club as they completed a double for the season over rivals Penketh Utd.

A brace here for James Boardman and one apiece for Paul Winters, Scott Singleton, Greg Wilson and Paul Bell. Penketh's goals came courtesy of Neil Murphy, Gary Cooper and David Gallimore.

Prolific marksman Stuart Cunliffe did not help Penketh's cause by missing a penalty at a crucial stage.

Late drama in the Safeways match against Black Bear. Strikes from the home team's Lee Kinsay and Paul Thompson and the visitors' James Hayes and Graham Hyde left it 2-2 after 89 minutes.

Safeways were then awarded a penalty but Thompson's effort was brilliantly saved by the Black Bear 'keeper. Referee Mark Hampson increased the drama by ordering the kick to be retaken due to excessive forward motion made by the 'keeper in making the save.

A Black Bear player was red-carded for disputing the decision and after all the fuss had died down, reliable Robert Gleave calmly slotted home the retaken spot kick to give Safeways maximum points.

Tommy's Clock Face found themselves 2-0 down after 20 minutes against Wood Albion. They got their act together and struck back through a Frank McDonald double and one each from James Ireland and Kevin Fate.

They then brought on 16 year old Craig Marc from the sub's bench and he hit a brace for a 6-2 win.

Houghton Arms rattled in five without reply in another Division Three encounter. On song for the winning outfit were Danny Littlefair, two, Jeff Tarbuck, John Bird and Seva Doughty.

In the reserve sections, Moorfield had an excellent 2-1 win at Golborne Sports. Mike White and Mark Edwards were on target.

Moore struck six without reply at Grappenhall third. A Steve Carr treble here with a brace from Paul Shaw and one by Trevor Carter.

Fearnhead's goal wizard Mike McEvoy claimed a couple, while other strikes came from Mike Garcia, Sean McGann, Paul McGrath and Paul Ellis for a 6-1 win against Daten fourth.

Halton Borough and Moorfield were involved in quarter-finals of the Runcorn Cup and Liverpool Junior Cup respectively. Both crashed out 5-2.
