Eagle RUFC 0

WHILE Warrington won Saturday's 'derby' by a clear margin, pushing Eagle closer to relegation, the final scoreline flattered them.

Eagle made them fight every inch of the way for each point they scored.

Warrington started well and from a lineout in the Eagle 22, Peter Holce secured good ball and the forwards drove Terry Blohm over.

In the 15th minute the same move pushed Eagle back to their own line, but on this occasion the ball was moved sweetly along the backs for Andrews to run in his 12th try of the season.

Eagle enjoyed their best spell of pressure and only some solid defence, particularly from Matt Drinkwater, kept them out.

Against the run of play outstanding Jim Keulemans broke clear to send Drinkwater racing over from the half way line. The conversion left Warrington 17 points ahead.

As the second half wore on Warrington regained their ascendency but it was to Eagle's credit that Warrington, during the remainder of the game, could only kick three penalties and score a fortunate try when a loose pass went to ground.

The win edges Warrington a little closer to the league title, but with Wirral close on their heels they know that just one defeat in the league would put Wirral back into the driving seat.

Warrington seconds beat Eagle 32-23 at Thornton Road in a bad tempered game, while the

Eagle thirds

EAGLE thirds enjoyed a good victory against Rochdale.

Jason Greenwood capped an excellent performance with his side's only try while the boot of Shaun McDermott did the rest in a 13-7 win. The fourths beat Congleton 18-10.
