STRIKER Rodney Jack is finally set to join Crewe after his work permit came through this week.
The Alex had been waiting for most of the summer for the former Torquay player to sign due to problems with his permit.
Crewe made Torquay an offer five months ago of about £400,000 but the Gulls upped the price to £700,000.
The final deal is worth £650,000 with half paid as an initial fee and the rest spread over three years.
Jack was due to join Crewe after flying back from St Vincent on Wednesday and could be in Saturday's line up against Barnsley.
"He could possibly be involved on Saturday depending on the state of his fitness, I haven't seen him since we agreed everything," said Crewe boss Dario Gradi.
"We're just waiting on Danny Hay's work permit now. That's a bit further down the road because he's got to send all his records of the international caps he's got to warrant the work permit in the first place.
"We can't just get a player from somewhere like New Zealand, he's got to have played at international level."
Seth Johnson is still having problems with a toe injury although it is not likely to be serious and Kevin Street has a calf injury although he could be alright for Saturday.
John Pemberton has retired from the club after playing only a couple of times for Crewe and Steve Anthrobus' injury is progressing but he is unlikely to play on Saturday
