AMBITIONS, family and good, clean living are the secrets to a long life according to one Shavington resident.
Elsie Jackson celebrated her 100th birthday on Monday at Santune House, Rope Lane, in Shavington.
She was joined by her family and dignitaries including Cheshire County Council chairman David Newton.
For her birthday Miss Jackson's family presented her with a string of pearls, a gift she has always wanted.
She left school at 12 to train as a tailoress and worked in Nantwich before returning to Crewe where she worked for many years continuing after retirement age.
Community Services Team leader at Santune House said: "All the staff here are thrilled to be part of the celebration with Elsie."
